Celebrating a year of dedication, teamwork, and community care!
Twenty-one enthusiastic students from Years 7 to 9, accompanied by four staff members, enjoyed a well-earned break at Camp Fairbridge in Pinjarra to celebrate their incredible contributions throughout the year. These hardworking students qualified for this exciting end-of-year camp after completing a minimum of seven sessions of community service. From weeding and watering to planting, cleaning, and sorting cans, their efforts have made a significant impact on the local environment and community.
The adventure began with a relaxing Mandurah Dolphin Cruise, where students had the chance to spot dolphins up close while learning about the history of Mandurah’s waterways, flora, and fauna. After a delicious Subway lunch, the group made their way to the beautiful Fairbridge Village.
At Scratton Lodge, the excitement continued with an afternoon packed with activities: archery, a rock wall climb, and high ropes courses. The evening saw students unwinding over card games, basketball, and a spirited game of spotlight before falling into bed after a busy day.
Day two started early with a hearty breakfast, followed by team-building activities led by Scott and a fascinating history talk in Fairbridge’s historic on-site church. After grabbing a takeaway lunch, the group headed to Lakelands Park for a scenic walk to find Little Lui, a stunning giant sculpture crafted from recycled materials. The trek, surrounded by bushland, was a memorable way to close the trip.
Despite the heat and the inevitable swarm of flies, the camp was a fantastic way to round off the year. Students strengthened friendships, developed new skills, and celebrated the fruits of their hard work.
Student Reflections:
“I would say that Bushies Camp was a very fun experience where we learnt more about each other and nature.” — Gabe, Year 8
“Bush Rangers Camp was such a fun and exciting experience for me. I made great connections with others through team-building activities, high ropes, rock climbing, and late-night games. The dolphin cruise in Mandurah was by far my favourite, especially because three dolphins swam right beside us! The food was so tasty, and I loved visiting the beautiful church. Just before we went home, we took a lovely walk to see an amazing giant made from recycled materials, which I feel was the perfect way to end our amazing trip. The Bushies Camp was a trip I’ll always remember.” — Lauren, Year 7
Thank you to the students and staff who made this trip such a resounding success. Here’s to another incredible year with the Bush Rangers team!
