Drama Night 2025

Katie Sullivan (Teacher)

On the evening of June 19, 2025, the Kolbe Catholic College community came together to celebrate the power of performance at the annual Drama Night, titled Shades of Change. The event transformed the stage into a canvas of emotion, storytelling, and creativity, showcasing the incredible talents of students across Years 8 to 12.

From the moment the lights dimmed, the audience was drawn into a vibrant world brought to life by students from the Certificate class, Year 10 and 9 Drama students, the College Theatre Company, and a specially selected group of Year 8 performers. Each group brought their own flavour to the theme, sharing stories of transformation, resilience, and personal growth—stories that reflected both individual journeys and the collective spirit of the Kolbe community.

More than just a night of entertainment, Drama Night holds a special place in the heart of Kolbe’s Performing Arts calendar. It’s an opportunity for students to put months of learning into action, stepping onto the stage with confidence and courage. For some, it’s their debut performance; for others, especially our Year 12s, it’s a bittersweet finale.

“Honoured to be Drama Captain for my last Drama Night,” shared Oscar (Year 12), reflecting on his final performance at Kolbe with pride and emotion.

The theme Shades of Change was felt in every scene, ensemble piece, and original work. Whether through humour, heartbreak, or hope, students captivated the audience with performances that were bold, thoughtful, and deeply authentic.

“I love Drama. It’s my favourite subject,” said Cooper (Year 9), summing up the passion and enthusiasm that filled the room.

At its core, Drama Night is about more than the performances—it’s about the life skills being developed behind the scenes. Confidence, collaboration, creative thinking, and the ability to communicate with purpose are all on full display, nurtured by Kolbe’s strong commitment to the arts.
