On Sunday 25 May, a group of sixty enthusiastic Year 10 and 11 students, our Year 12 KolbeCare Captain and five supportive staff members gathered bright and early at Rockingham Station. By 8am, the team was on their way to Perth City to take part in the annual HBF Run for a Reason, and not even the pouring rain could dampen their spirits!
With smiles on their faces and passion in their stride, the Kolbe team tackled the 3km course while braving the wet conditions to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Care WA – our school’s chosen charity. Our Kolbe runners managed to raise over a tremendous $8400, which will go towards this amazing organisation, this will help provide counselling, care and financial support to nearly two thousand families affected by breast cancer in Western Australia. We sincerely thank the generosity of those within our Kolbe community who donated to this important cause.
Year 12 KolbeCare Captain Leon reflected, “Despite the wet and cold weather, it was inspiring to watch the Kolbe team run with such passion for our chosen cause, Breast Cancer Care WA. Even as the team assembled early in the morning, you could feel the buzz of excitement and energy – a true reflection of the Kolbe Way in action.”
