Kolbe Catholic College’s 91-strong athletics team celebrated a memorable victory at the ACC B Division Athletics Carnival, with students from all year levels contributing to an outstanding day of competition.
The contest remained close throughout the full program of track and field events, with the lead changing hands several times. Kolbe ultimately secured the overall title by just nine points over Newman College, who had moved down from A Division this year. The team also claimed the Junior Boys and Senior Girls aggregate titles.
Reflecting on the team’s efforts, Isla said, “ACC athletics was a great day, with lots of competition, but we all worked very hard and got the job done.”
Teamwork, determination and commitment were evident throughout the carnival. Several students stepped in at short notice to cover events due to illness or injury, while others adapted to challenging circumstances and supported their teammates. Every contribution helped secure the result.
For many of our athletes, the carnival was also an opportunity to showcase skills developed through countless hours of training. Their performances reflected both their individual abilities and the dedication behind the scenes.
Among the individual highlights, Ruby was named U13 Champion Girl at her first ACC Athletics Carnival, Kade received U13 Runner-Up Champion honours, Xavier claimed the U15 Boys Champion title and Martha was named U16 Girls Champion. Comprehensive carnival results can be viewed on the ACC results portal.
The encouragement from teammates was another highlight, particularly during the relays. As Asha shared, “The ACC athletics carnival was a great day all round. Despite the warm weather, we all pushed through and got the win! Us supporting everyone in the relays was a highlight.”
This achievement belongs to every student who represented Kolbe, whether competing, stepping into an unfamiliar event or cheering from the sidelines. Congratulations to our 91 athletes and sincere thanks to everyone involved in preparing, supporting and coaching the team.
