Our annual KCC Interhouse Athletics Carnival was a day of fun and games, with records tumbling and participation at an all time high. With the ‘near-completed’ new Gymnasium as a backdrop, it was a great picture representing Kolbe tradition, House Spirit and exciting times for sport. It was great to be able to welcome our international guests from Keio School in Japan, to join in and immerse themselves in Kolbe culture.
Chris, our provider from Timing Solutions, commented on the day, that he’d ‘never before seen as many 100m race heats’, which shows the willingness of our students to show up, make an effort and represent their house – Well done!
Dancing and cheering went to new levels as well. Not even a heavy shower toward the end of the day could dampen the spirits. It did halt the High Jump for Year 7’s and 8’s, but the running events continued with competition heating up on the track, with scores close going into the relays.
Thanks to the competitors who continued the High jump during recess and lunch times this week. Now that the final results have been entered, we are glad to be able to announce that the final tally of points stands as follows:
Well done to Xavier House, eclipsing Chisholm after an eight-year dynasty of Athletics Carnival wins.
The much coveted Spirit Shield was presented to Loyola House – a fantastic effort all round on the day from the ‘purple army’, good on you!
Congratulations to our Age Group Athletic Champions and Runners Up:

A big thank you to all staff and student helpers for their significant contributions out in the field to make this day possible and a thoroughly enjoyable Carnival – The smooth running of events was a tribute to your dedication and service.
All information about the Carnival, including a highlights video and new Records achieved on the day, can be accessed on the Interhouse Sports Carnivals Site.
We are very much looking forward to getting our team up and ready for training now, ahead of the annual Interschool Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) B Division Carnival in Week 9. With our talent, athleticism and experience, it will certainly be another exciting meet and Kolbe will be in the mix for accolades I’m sure. All the best to those selected – Train well and be proud to step out onto the track and field for your College.
