On Wednesday night, Kolbe Catholic College’s Stage 7 was transformed into a vibrant live music venue as we hosted Kol-chella 2K25, a Term 2 celebration of our Years 7–9 music students. With a lineup of iconic tracks including Smells Like Teen Spirit, Feel Good Inc., 9 to 5, and Espresso and an amazing rendition of The Greatest by Billie Eilish, the evening showcased the incredible enthusiasm and talent of our young performers.
“It felt like we were in a real concert. I was nervous but proud!” – Brock (Year 8)
The event was designed not just to highlight student creativity but also to give them a real-world performance experience—with lights, sound, and a supportive audience. For many students, it was their first time on stage, and even for those just beginning their musical journey, the courage to perform was what made the night truly special.
“I never thought I’d be able to play in front of people—now I can’t wait to do it again!” – Flynne (Year 9)
Participation and encouragement were the heart of the night. Whether students performed a full song or a couple of sections, they were met with roaring applause and pride from the community.
“We’ve been practicing for weeks, and it was awesome to finally show what we’ve been up to.” – Charli (Year 9)
Huge thanks to our families, staff, the stream team and audience as well as the Volunteer Year 12 student helpers Owen, Judd, Ronan, Jacob, Luke, Ollie, Oscar, Cameryn, Lily, Maddy, Jay for your ongoing support of the Kolbe Music Program. Bring on the next gig!
