Smiles, energy and excitement set the tone as Year 4 students from Star of the Sea Primary School, St Bernadette’s Primary School and St Vincent’s Primary School experienced a memorable Immersion day at Kolbe.
The day provided a wonderful snapshot of secondary school life, with the Year 4 students actively participating in a variety of subjects that included Food Science, Wellbeing, Dance, Sport, Religion, Science, English, Maths and HASS. Each session was interactive and engaging, giving students a taste of the learning, creativity and challenge that awaits them after primary school.
A major highlight of the day was the Year 9 Best House Competition. Performances were vibrant, creative and filled with school spirit! The Year 4 students played their part- cheering enthusiastically and adding to the excitement. Their enthusiastic participation supported Rice House in their claim to the trophy! A special thank you goes to all the Year 9 students and their House Coordinators, whose hard work ensured that our Year 4’s got an insight into House Spirit at Kolbe!
Beyond the fun and excitement, the immersion days play an essential role in supporting the transition from primary to secondary school. Research highlights that positive transition experiences strengthen student confidence, wellbeing and engagement (Jindal-Snape & Cantali, 2019; Dockett & Perry, 2007). Immersion days like this help reduce uncertainty and build within students, a readiness for the future. We are grateful to our local catholic primary schools for their support of this opportunity.
Importantly, the day reflected Kolbe’s strong sense of community, grounded in our values of Courage, Faith and Excellence. Students experienced a genuine sense of belonging that defines The Kolbe Way.

Applications for Year 7 2029 are now open for current Year 4 students. We warmly invite families to submit their applications via the Kolbe Catholic College website.
As places are in high demand, we strongly encourage families to apply by Term 4 this year to ensure their child is considered.
To support your application please include:
- Your child’s most recent school reports
- NAPLAN results (where available)
- A Parish Priest Reference (encouraged, if applicable)
