Loyola House Day

Mya and Zayde – Loyola House Captains

On 18 June, Loyola House celebrated Loyola Day, honouring our patron saint, St Ignatius Loyola, while bringing our school community together through faith, fun and service.

The day began with a Loyola Day Mass celebrating the life and values of St Ignatius Loyola and encouraging students to live with compassion, courage and a commitment to serving others. Afterwards, students played soccer on the oval and enjoyed bacon and egg rolls, with a vibrant and positive atmosphere strengthening connections within Loyola House.

After school, many students participated in Loyola’s annual Walk for Epilepsy, which was open to all members of the Kolbe community from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The walk provided an opportunity to raise awareness and show support for those living with epilepsy, while reinforcing the importance of giving back to the wider community. Lollies, merchandise and a sausage sizzle were set up on the day, with all money raised donated to Epilepsy WA.

Loyola Day is an important tradition that reflects the values of our House and the legacy of St Ignatius Loyola. It encourages students to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships and recognise the positive impact they can have through acts of service.

Year 11 student Laini reflected on the day, saying, “Loyola Day was a great opportunity to bring our House together while supporting Epilepsy WA. It was amazing to see so many people getting involved and living out the values of our House.”

Year 12 Sport Captain Mckenna added, “It was great being a part of the experience and watching everyone participate and walk while I was cooking. Loyola’s an amazing house with an amazing charity.”
