Maths Week began on Friday 4 August, when one hundred and seventy of our best mathematicians sat the Australian Mathematics Competition. James, a Year 12 student described how he felt about the competition:
“The Australian Maths Competition is a great opportunity for maths enthusiasts to put their numerical skills to the test. Even by just giving it a go, each student is rewarded with a certificate and congratulations from Kolbe’s lovely maths staff! “
Continuing into Week 4, students had the opportunity to test their knowledge in the PC Maths Trivia Quiz Competition and their problem-solving ability in the Maths Puzzle Competition. Congratulations go to the winning PCs: Windsor (Chisolm House) and Josephites (MacKillop House). The Maths Puzzle competition was won by Year 12 student Caden. He was the only student from all year levels to score 100%. Well done Caden!
The highlight of Maths Week was the Crime Scene Investigation competition. Lunchtimes saw groups of students engaged in a dynamic display of teamwork and intellectual prowess. Working collaboratively, they harnessed their creative and critical thinking skills to unravel murder mysteries. Sienna and Rachel from Year 8 and Daniel and Liam in Year 11 navigated the maze of clues with unparalleled precision and unveiled the mystery killer. Congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment and a huge thank you to Mrs Bala Krishnan for organising this challenging and engaging competition!
