This time of year is always a celebration at Kolbe Catholic College. It is the time where as a community we get to celebrate the end product of all our collective efforts – the graduation of our incredible Year 12 students. At Tuesday’s graduation ceremony, I spoke about the vital role our entire community plays in shaping the lives of our Year 12 students. While the students’ hard work and determination have brought them to this significant milestone, it is the combined support of their families, teachers, and the wider Kolbe Catholic College community that has truly guided them on their journey. Using the metaphor of a ship and a lighthouse, I emphasised how our students are like captains, steering their lives forward, but always relying on the unwavering support of their families to help them navigate through both smooth waters and the most challenging storms.
The partnership between families and our school community is key to the success of our students. Our teachers, staff, and parents have worked together to provide a strong foundation of guidance, love, and faith for these young adults. As a school, we are deeply grateful for this collaborative effort, which nurtures not only academic success but also the values of courage, faith, and excellence that our College holds dear. This shared commitment has helped shape the remarkable graduates we are proud to send into the world, ready to make a positive impact wherever their futures lead.
As our Year 12 graduates step into the next chapter of their lives, we wish them every success and blessing for the future. While the path ahead will bring new challenges and opportunities, we encourage them to look to Jesus Christ and St. Maximilian Kolbe as enduring role models, who taught us the importance of love, compassion, and service to others. As our graduates pursue their dreams, may they be guided by these examples, as well as the unwavering support of their families and wider community, so that they become beacons of love and hope, making a meaningful impact on the world around them.
As Term 4 begins, our focus naturally starts to shift toward the close of this year and also what a new school year in 2025 will bring. With this in mind, I wish to write about vacancies we will have on our School Advisory Council (SAC) and P&F Committee in 2025. Our SAC and P&F AGM is coming up on Tuesday 12 November, and all members of our College community are invited to attend this meeting, which is being held in our Staffroom at 6:00pm. Please note we have three vacancies on our School Advisory Council for 2025, and an interest of nomination can be forwarded to Ms Nita Beaumont, the Personal Assistant to the Principal, by Friday 1 November via email (nita.beaumont@cewa.edu.au). We also have four P&F committee positions vacant in 2025 (Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer and Secretary) and again, nominations for those positions can be sent to Ms Nita Beaumont. Elections will take place at our AGM meeting in November.
Finally, I wish all our families the very best for Term 4 and look forward to connecting with you at the various events we have planned for the remainder of the year. We look forward to continuing to support and celebrate our students as they work toward finishing the year on a positive note.
