Kolbe Catholic College is proud to announce it has been awarded a QCE CEWA Merit Award in the Catholic Identity category for its entry, Capabilities for Life Courses @ Kolbe.
These innovative programs – Ignite (Year 7), Build (Year 8), and Strive (Year 9) have been running since 2023 and are central to Kolbe’s mission to form students who live out Gospel values and serve the common good. Through experiential learning and real-world projects, students develop essential 21st-century capabilities including character, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, citizenship, and communication. Each course is intentionally designed to help students grow in faith, leadership, and purpose while making meaningful contributions to their community.
This recognition reflects the collective effort of many dedicated staff, in particular Rachelle Kelly, Head of Learning Excellence & Engagement, in leading this long-term project. As well as the many staff across multiple learning areas, who have designed, refined, and delivered these programs with passion and vision. Their commitment to embedding Catholic values within a contemporary learning framework ensures Kolbe students are not only well-prepared academically but are also inspired to live as compassionate, capable, and faith-filled citizens.
