At Kolbe, we believe in empowering our students to dream big and eight of our Year 10 and 11 students took that challenge to a whole new level. Through Curtin University’s Rising Scholars Program, they stepped into the shoes of university students while still at high school.
For one semester, they embraced the challenge of tertiary study, balancing school life with university-level learning. Their dedication and perseverance paid off in a truly inspiring way with six of our Rising Scholars achieving Distinction grades in their units.
This is not only an incredible academic achievement but also a testament to their courage, faith and excellence. We are so proud of these students for pushing themselves beyond what seemed possible and showing that with hard work, anything can be achieved.

Being part of the Rising Scholar Program at Curtin has been an incredibly rewarding journey for all of us. We’ve genuinely enjoyed the opportunities it has given us to connect with other driven students, take on exciting academic challenges, and grow together—both intellectually and personally. The program has helped us feel more confident in our abilities and inspired us to aim higher in everything we do.
One of the highlights was our on-campus day, which was not only fun but also a wonderful chance to meet new people and experience the vibrant Curtin community firsthand. It gave us a taste of university life while still being in high school, which was both exciting and motivating.
As Lei (Year 10) shared,“The RSP experience allowed me to see how university students do school and courses. It was really fun and I’d like to continue doing it.”
Similarly, Rachannie (Year 10) reflected,“The RSP was an enjoyable program that helped me experience what university life is like while still being in high school.”
