SSWA Basketball Carnival

Annie Tubby (HPE Teacher & Coach)

On Monday 5th May, Kolbe Catholic College’s senior girls and boys basketball teams took to the courts at Mike Barnett Sports Complex to represent the College in the SSWA Senior Basketball Carnival. Competing against schools from across the harbour region, our students demonstrated outstanding skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day.

The senior girls’ team, coached by Miss Tubby, showed incredible resilience and spirit. After a narrow loss to Rockingham, they bounced back with confidence to defeat Gilmore College and Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. Their impressive performances earned them a well-deserved place in the finals, which will be held later this term.

“Well done girls – you showed grit and determination, some hot shooting and fantastic defensive skills,” said Miss Tubby.

The boys’ team started the day on a high note, securing convincing wins against Rockingham Senior High School and Carey Baptist College. With strong momentum and high hopes, they entered a pivotal game against Gilmore College. It was a physical and hard-fought match, and although they narrowly missed out on a place in the finals, the boys left the court with heads held high.

“Despite the struggles, our patience and perseverance led us to success as a team,” reflected Zayde.

Pietro added, “It was a great day out playing basketball with my mates – I’m glad I was a part of this experience.”

A big congratulations to both teams for representing Kolbe with pride, passion and resilience. You’ve made our College proud.
