In Term 3, students across the college stepped up to make a difference through a unique design competition with a practical twist: creating stickers for our general waste bins! The competition aimed to support the CLEAN Initiative, a project led by our 2025 Year 12 leadership team to tackle the ongoing issue of litter across the school grounds.
The CLEAN initiative began earlier this year in response to a call from Kolbe staff to encourage greater care for our shared spaces. Throughout the year student leaders from all year groups took action by organising lunchtime rosters, volunteering to help collect litter and encouraging others to do the right thing. The aim wasn’t just to clean up — it was to shift the culture.
To take it a step further, our Wellbeing Captain Sabatini partnered with the Head of Wellbeing to launch a sticker design competition. The goal? Eye-catching, original bin stickers that would make people stop and think before tossing their rubbish. Open to all year levels, the competition sparked a wave of creativity and environmental awareness across the community. When the final designs were submitted, staff and students were invited to vote for their favourites in a number of categories. It was a difficult choice as we had so many wonderful entries from our talented students. After long deliberation the final winners were announced. A huge congratulations goes to our three Overall Winners, Year 9 student Emily in 1st place, Year 10 student Noble in 2nd place, and Year 8 student Morgan in 3rd place.
We also congratulate the following students who were winners in one or more categories in the competition – Rowan, Grayson, Oliver, Heather, Chelsea, Miia, Kylie, Adorabella, Cooper, Jasmine, Mackenzie and Sabatini!
The winning designs will be printed soon and placed on bins around the school, so keep an eye out for them! Well done to everyone who entered and made this initiative a success!
