Celebrating Our Student Leaders

Jeanine Carrier (Deputy Principal Years 8, 10 & 12)

On Wednesday evening, September 8, the Kolbe community gathered for our annual Student Leaders’ Thanksgiving Mass and Presentation Ceremony, a special occasion to honour and thank our incredible student leaders from Years 7 to 12.

The evening began with a beautiful Mass, celebrated by Fr Vijay. Our readers and musicians brought the liturgy to life with reverence and joy, while the background preparation of Mrs Fry Walker, Mr Bomford and Mr Gryl ensured the celebration was both meaningful and memorable.

At Kolbe, we are continually inspired by our Patron Saint, Maximilian Kolbe, whose courage, faith, and servant leadership remind us that true leadership is about stepping forward to serve others. This spirit of “the Kolbe way” has been evident in the dedication and example of our student leaders throughout the year.

2025 has been marked by countless proud moments of student leadership, and our Year 12 leaders have been at the heart of this. From their vision and energy at leadership camp last year through to their support of College events and peers, they have set a shining example. A standout initiative was the Bin Brigade, where senior leaders armed with tongs, buckets and super hero capes, guided younger students to help maintain our school grounds. While simple in practice, this initiative reflected servant leadership at its best—seeing a need in the community and acting with generosity and responsibility.

The Thanksgiving Mass and presentations were an opportunity to acknowledge these efforts and express our gratitude to all student leaders across every year group. Their time, energy, and commitment have helped shape a culture of care, responsibility, and excellence at Kolbe.

We thank our leaders of 2025 for the difference they have made and celebrate their courage, faith, and service.
