This year is the 25th Anniversary of International Mother Language Day celebrating a quarter-century of efforts to preserve linguistic diversity and promote mother tongues. This milestone emphasises the importance of language preservation in safeguarding cultural heritage, improving education, and fostering more peaceful societies.
This week at Kolbe Catholic College we are recognising our community’s rich linguistic diversity in the languages classes, in PC and in the WLC. Students have been encouraged to share their linguistic heritage by writing the word for ‘love’ in their Mother language, which formed a very long chain that was displayed in the WLC, demonstrating how each of us is a vital link in the vast and intricate chain of linguistic diversity, woven together by the voices of countless generations. Whether we are passing down ancestral tongues, embracing new languages, or blending them in unique ways, we are all guardians of linguistic heritage, ensuring that the beauty of diversity continues to thrive for generations to come.
Congratulations to Windsor PC, for taking out first place in the International Mother Languages Day PC Quiz.
