In Term 3 our Cert Drama and Cert Dance students travelled to Mandurah for the Peel heats of the 2024 YOH FEST. We showcased five pieces: a drama piece, Beyond the Box – Class of 1998, and four dance pieces: Somebody to Hold, Power of the Flock, Sonder, and Stories. This year’s Youth on Health Festival celebrated the theme of ‘Inclusion’.
The day was filled with excitement as we rehearsed each piece on stage with professional sound and lighting teams from the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. We received valuable feedback from the chief judge during these rehearsals. In the evening, we performed alongside other schools to a packed audience, celebrating the vibrancy of youth on stage.
YOH Fest spans the entire state, from Broome to Bunbury, featuring multiple nights of performances at each venue. From these, eight acts will advance to the Grand Finals. We are thrilled to announce that our Dance Company Jazz piece, Power of the Flock, was selected for the finals, which will be held on October 25th.
A huge congratulations goes to all our participants, for a wonderful day showcasing Kolbe’s talent. We extend our best wishes to Power of the Flock as they prepare for the Grand Finals. It was truly a day to remember, highlighting the exceptional skills and enthusiasm of our students.
