About us. Discover the Kolbe way.

Welcome to Kolbe

Welcome to Kolbe Catholic College — a co-educational Catholic secondary school located in the coastal town of Rockingham. For more than 30 years, we have been offering students from Years 7 to 12 an outstanding Catholic education based on the values of courage, faith and excellence.

Our mission is to nurture and celebrate our students. We aim to help them flourish by providing a welcoming environment — a place where they will feel loved and develop a genuine sense of belonging.

Kolbe students are challenged to be collaborative and critical thinkers, to develop a sense of solidarity and justice for all people, and aspire to create a better future for everyone. They are encouraged to carry the message of Jesus and the spirit of our patron saint, Maximilian Kolbe, in their hearts, and to show courage, faith and excellence in all facets of their lives.

Set on a beautiful campus with modern facilities, enthusiastic and passionate staff, and a strong reputation for pastoral care and academic achievement, we work closely with families to guide and support our students during their journey at Kolbe.

We encourage you to explore our website, discover the Kolbe Way, and find out why Kolbe Catholic College is the school of choice in our community.

“Don’t ever forget to love.”
Saint Maximilian Kolbe

God Bless
Mr Neil Alweyn
Principal

OUR COLLEGE

Founded in 1989 by a small group of community members, Kolbe Catholic College now caters for over 1200 students and employs over 130 staff to support their learning. The College is located south of Fremantle on five hectares of land in the coastal suburb of Rockingham.

Inspired by our College patron, Saint Maximilian Kolbe, for his courage, unwavering faith and excellence in all his undertakings, we develop inspiring young people by focusing on both the pastoral and academic aspects of each individual student and their needs. Our unique programs are designed to support their learning and development, while also keeping student wellbeing as a priority.

Students are encouraged to access a broad range of academic, cultural, sporting and christian service opportunities to enrich their learning experiences and provide them with the tools they need to:

  • be challenged and become lifelong learners;
  • develop a deep respect for themselves and others;
  • question, challenge and stand up for their beliefs;
  • build resilience;
  • care for their personal wellbeing.

The College has been an Apple Distinguished School for over ten years and utilises innovative technologies to enhance student learning. As one of only a handful of Perth schools awarded this status by Apple Education, we are proud of our future-focused and research-based approach to quality education.

OUR HISTORY

In the early 1980s, a small group of community members, with the support of their local parishes, began advocating for the establishment of the first Catholic secondary school along the southern corridor of the Perth metropolitan area. The fulfilment of their vision was no easy task, but the group stayed determined, and by 1987 they were well on their way to commencing the building of Rockingham’s first Catholic secondary school.

During the 18 months prior to the school’s opening, Founding Principal, Br Pat Carey, Acting Principal, Br Max McAppion, the Interim Board and many local parishioners put countless hours into the coordination of the building program. They tirelessly cleared, planted and established the magnificent grounds we are so proud of today. They appointed staff, sourced enrolments and established the College foundations to ensure Kolbe students had every opportunity to succeed. Kolbe Catholic College opened its doors for the first time to students in February 1989.

Over the past 33 years, the College has been blessed with the skills and vision of five principals — Br Pat Carey, Mr Egmont Melton, Mrs Caroline Payne, Ms Robyn Miller, and our current Principal, Mr Neil Alweyn — each building on what has been achieved before, both growing the College and establishing traditions that are now interwoven into the daily life of students and staff.

OUR CAMPUS

Set within the Rockingham educational precinct alongside the Rockingham campuses of Murdoch University and South Metropolitan TAFE, Kolbe has grown into a thriving school community with over 1,200 students enrolled from Years 7 to 12.

We are blessed to have beautiful grounds that serve as a backdrop to our facilities. These facilities are highly effective learning environments designed to prepare future-ready leaders.
